Swim School Level Objectives
Use the levels listed below to help make a decision for which level most accurately describes your little swimmer's ability level.
The skills listed under objectives are the goals for the class and need to be met in order to advance to the next level. If you are unsure of your swimmer’s level, we suggest enrolling in the lower level class as a starting point.
Program Tracks
​Our Swim School offers two program tracks to best suit your swimmer's needs and development.

Guppy Gliders
Level 1 - Splash Program

OBJECTIVES:​​
-
No longer cries during the lesson
-
Listens to the instructor
-
Blows bubbles
-
Floats on back with assistance
-
Can front float with assistance
-
Kicks with assistance
-
Jumps to the instructor
-
Voluntarily submerges head under the water
-
Can "bob" (interval breathing) with assistance
Seahorse Splashers
Level 2 - Splash Program

OBJECTIVES:​​
-
Floats on back unassisted (10 seconds)
-
Floats on stomach unassisted (5 seconds)
-
Glides on stomach unassisted (5 feet)
-
Can do a front to back rollover with assistance
-
Independently kicks with a streamline (5 feet)
-
Can do 5 "bobs" unassisted
-
Treads water for 5-10 seconds
-
Jumps into water and returns to wall unassisted
-
Listens to instructions and waits safely on the wall or designated spot when not swimming
Jellyfish Jumpers
Level 3 - Splash Program

OBJECTIVES:​​
-
Can do straight leg flutter kicks
-
Can do a streamline kick independently for 5 meters
-
Can do unassisted rollovers (back to front & front to back)
-
Kicks on back unassisted
-
Reaches the 5ft bottom
-
Treads water for 10-20 seconds
-
Can do 5-10 strokes of backstroke
-
Can do 5-10 freestyle strokes (big arms) including roll-over breathing
-
Can do a sitting dive
Turtle Treaders
Level 4 - Splash Program

OBJECTIVES:​​
-
Swims freestyle (big arms) for 12 meters
-
Demonstrates a proper side breath
-
Kicks on back in a streamline for 12 meters
-
Swims backstroke for 12 meters
-
Can do 5 breaststroke kicks
-
Can do dolphin kicks for 5 meters
-
Treads water for 20-30 seconds
-
Can do a kneeling dive
-
Pushes off the wall underwater in a streamline at the beginning of their stroke
Stroke Program
Stroke Class is designed to help more seasoned swimmers build confidence and stamina through stroke technique refinement. New class levels include: Electric Eels, Rocket Rays, and Nitro Narwhals.​
OBJECTIVES:​​
-
Maintains consistent side breathing in freestyle for 12 meters
-
Demonstrates early freestyle efficiency (body rotation, long arms, steady kick)
-
Kicks on back in streamline for 25 meters
-
Swims 12 meters of backstroke with alternating arms, steady kick and correct arm recovery (straight arm out of water, thumb out/pinky in)
-
Performs a basic breaststroke pull and kick timing for 5 meters (not required to be USA Swimming legal)
-
Performs 2-4 butterfly arm pulls with proper rhythm and kick
-
Starts each lap of swimming with a streamline
-
Can do a front somersault in the water
-
Ready for PCC Dolphins Swim Team - Seals!



Electric Eels
Level 1 - Stroke Program

Rocket Rays
Level 2 - Stroke Program
OBJECTIVES:​​
-
Swims 25 meters of efficient freestyle w/ side breathing
-
Swims 25 meters of efficient backstroke
-
Swims 15 meters of breaststroke (not required to be USA Swimming legal)
-
Swims 15 meters of butterfly (not required to be USA Swimming legal)
-
Can do a freestyle flip turn starting from the flags
-
Can do a backstroke flip turn
-
Can do a breaststroke breakout/pulldown
-
Can do a standing dive
-
Ready for PCC Dolphins Swim Team - Seals or Barracudas!
Nitro Narwals
Level 3 - Stroke Program

OBJECTIVES:​​
-
Begins each lap with ready position followed by streamline
-
Swims 50 meters of freestyle with a flip turn
-
Swims 50 meters of backstroke with a flip turn
-
Swims 25 meters of legal USA Swimming breaststroke
-
Swims 25 meters of legal USA Swimming butterfly
-
Swims 100 meters of legal USA Swimming IM (individual medley)
-
Uses proper finishes (two hand touches, finishing on back, etc.) and proper turns (flipturns, two hands, etc.) for each stroke
-
Maintains proper body position (hips not dropping) for each stroke
-
Can do a race start
-
Ready for PCC Dolphins Swim Team - Barracudas or Sharks!
